>>> Divisions and Tournament Format
Sunday, May 26, 2024 - MA2, FA1, FA2, FA3 + all age protected (excluding MA40).

We want to provide as many divisions as possible! Any division will be included as long as it has at least three registered players.

Each division will play two rounds of 18 hole disc golf via shotgun start.
For players new to the SHOTGUN start format, let’s break it down for you:

All players head out to their assigned starting holes and wait until the horn or stated tournament tee off time before beginning their rounds. When you finish your round, head back to tournament central for your lunch break where you’ll check for your assigned starting hole for the second round. After lunch, you’ll head back out to your assigned starting hole. When you're done with the last round, head back to tournament central for prizes and the awards ceremony!

*Layout may change. But don’t worry, we will give you a heads up if it does.

>>> [ Frequently Asked Questions ]

How do I know which division I should register for?
Check out the PDGA division descriptions and recommended ratings: https://www.pdga.com/divisions

Can I register for both days of Toronto Island Open Silver?
In the spirit of accessibility and allowing as many players as possible an opportunity to participate, we’d suggest signing up for your preferred division first. If the tournament hasn’t filled up, we’d love to have you back for a second day.

Is there early registration for the Toronto Island Open Silver this year?
We’re excited to offer early registration to all of our 2023 volunteers! If you want to guarantee yourself early registration for TIO Silver next year, reach out to us about volunteering at TIO Pro later this summer.

Can I play both of the TIO Am and TIO Pro events?
Absolutely! Keep in mind that TIO Pro is intended for pros and advanced amateurs. We do not offer MA2/FA2 or below at that event.

Want to be involved with TIO? We’re always looking for volunteers. And you’ll get early registration for your choice of upcoming TIO Silver or Gold events.

Is the Toronto Island disc golf course cart?
Yes - This is one of the most cart friendly courses in Toronto! We highly recommend using a cart for your event round as rounds on average take about 4 hours to complete.

What’s happened to the Toronto Island Maple Leaf?
New name, same great player experience.

If you take a deep dive into the history of disc golf in Toronto, you’ll see that before there was the Toronto Island Maple Leaf, there was the Toronto Island Open.

Dating as far back as 1984, Toronto Island Open brand has a rich history of disc golf featuring legacy superstars and local legends such as Jim Ola Pay (1984), Elaine King (1992), Eric Vandenberg (1997), Brad Schick (1998), Juliana Korver (1999) Avery Jenkins (2000), Brian Guru Hoeniger (2001), Steve Schultz (2003), Brian Mace (2003), Steve Brinster (2004), and Kim Scott-wood (2005) to name a few.

So this year, we’re taking it back to the roots.

To honour the rich history and heritage of disc golf events on Toronto Island, the Toronto Island Maple Leaf is now officially called the Toronto Island Open.

Will the PRO event still happen?
Yes. Team TIO is working on finalizing event details and will announce the event as soon as possible. Formerly TIML Gold, the TIO Gold is our premier event, intended for more advanced players. It will include the same divisions as last year (MPO, FPO, MP40, MA1, FA1, MA40/50, FA40/50 and juniors).
